03/28/22 – March Snow

the sound of a snowplow at 5:33am

holding breath; waiting for the phone to ring

sneaking a peek out the blinds

praying for mountains of snow

the sound of a snowplow at 5:33am

holding breath; forcing the jaw to unclench

practicing slow breaths while closing the blinds

praying the wind dies down enough to keep the snow out of your coat collar.

  1. Ugh! I’m on spring break, looking at all of my friends’ pictures from Mexico and Arizona, and waiting for the snow we are supposed to have tomorrow. Like you, I’m not really looking forward to it!

  2. I swear that the weather this year has been wackier than usual. we go from a 70 degree day to a below freezing the net. The poor flowers. Plus, I just want to put my heavy coats away for the season.

  3. I really admire your poems that compare/contrast, mirror, or whatever you want to call it! You capture the change in disposition so well and your imagery is just so well done. I sent my mom flowers for her birthday today and they refused to leave the flowers outside because it’s so darn cold. The northeast needs to thaw for good!
